Good Vibrations
I went to an erotic film festival last night, sponsored by a local sex shop. Won a door prize too, a pocket vibrator. Neat, eh? The films themselves… not great overall. I saw better work back in film school. And often, not provocative enough. Some of it has sexual theme, but the production value was very low. Some of it had good production value, but not any good sexual content. Some of it was just soft-core porn, maybe with something artistic thrown in. And some of it was well made, with sexual themes, but really not anything particularly special. Almost all were bad from a technical stand point, with poorly mixed audio, low rendering, and weak scripts. I would say that out of the 11 films screened only two were worth watching. One is a sketch that played out as a commercial for a company that is like Cash-4-Gold, but for used sex toys. It was titleed "Tools-4-Fools," I think. There other was a short form documentary about several gay men and their preferences when it comes to sex, called "In Their Room." For me, the highlight of the evening was when the hostess, a drag queen named Chris, told the audience that if I could cum hard enough to hit the stage from my seat (second row) I would earn the night's top award, a spinning vibrating dilldo that lights up different colors. Despite various requests through out the night I was, regrettably, unable to make that magic happen. Sigh… But still, lots of fun. | | Monday, September 21st, 2009 | | 9:25 am |
New Plan!
New plan! I want to move to the South End of Boston, open an artist studio and be an artist, and also open a gay bar. Ok, I realize this is a bit of a departure from my Become-a-Stand-Up-Comic-and-Marry-Katy-P erry Plan, but as you can tell, this plan is even better! Me and the guys always talk about opening a gar bar because there are not many in Boston, surprisingly. We figure if we open a really nice one we could make some good money. Classy, but not so upscale that is inaccessible to people with an average income. The South End has a sizable gay population, and I saw a few open store fronts. I was in the South End for the Open Studios event, where, as you may guess, artists open their studios and you can check out some really great work. The experience really made me miss being an artist. There was a time that when I would think of ways to describe myself "artist" would always be at the top of the list. That was a while back now, and I need to get back to that. The South End has a lot of cool stuff. From the artists studios, the vintage shops, to the restaurants, to the open air markets. I spent all day there on Saturday and just loved it. When I have a little more money I will think about moving there. | | Friday, September 18th, 2009 | | 10:13 am |
Best Ever!
Awesome things: 1) My books that I ordered of Amazon came yesterday. I got "American Gods," "The Difference Engine," "Blackhole," and an anthology of Steampunk. Soon I should be receiving "Hell", and I pre ordered "And Another Thing..." "And Another Thing..." will serve as the last book of the Hitchhikers Guide series. It will be written by a different author, as Doug Adams passed away sometime ago now. I'm willing to give it a chance before I judge it for not being written by Adams. 2) My washing machine has been repaired after a month of being busted! My clothes are clean again!! 3) I'm very much addicted to Pandora. I just love it. 4)Big big news! The department head in charge of communications had me price out video equipment for the office and it arrived yesterday! I now have access to a brand new camera, and soon a iMac set up for video editing! It will mean a bit more work, as I am the only one in the office trained on the equipment, but I'm so happy about it! This time last year I hadn't even started temping in the mail room yet, and now I'm given full access to thousands of dollars worth of equipment! I'm so happy! And that's how my last two days have been going. | | Thursday, September 17th, 2009 | | 3:45 pm |
Trees
From my office window I watched a gust of wind knock the first yellow leaves off of a tree on the quad. The students are all in log sleeves now, some in coats. I imagine they are freshmen from warmer parts of the world who have sometime before they get used to the New England weather. Our new building that we move into next month is not on the main quad. I will miss the people watching. When people were just getting back to campus I saw so many big hugs of people who had not seen each other all summer. I see kids holding hands, playing games, or just sitting on the lawn reading. Once, my office mates and I sat by the window an watched as one of our student staffers apologized to her boyfriend. For what? We have no idea, but he looked so pissed. She tried to give him a hug, but his arms remained limp. When she came back from lunch 10 minutes late no one said anything. Our new building will over look the dorms and the suburban landscape of Waltham. I think it will make for a lovely view when the leaves fully turn. | | Friday, September 11th, 2009 | | 10:19 am |
It's Cold Now
The summer's oppressive heat has subsided. Dare I say it is cold now. No more beach trips. No more shirtless Saturday afternoons. Only one fan running in my room at night, rather than four, and that one more for white noise than keeping me cool. This will be my first real fall in New England. Last year I was busy moving, going back and forth to Jersey getting my stuff each weekend, or going to weddings and the like. I spent last fall inside, sending out resumes, playing video games, making excuses on the couch as I settled into my new life. I love the fall. I love watching the leaves turn, and gearing up for Halloween. A month and a half away. I need to think of a costume. New England has a very specific feeling in the fall. Something unique. It is hard to explain, but some how the fall brings out this feeling of old colonialism. New England just feels older in the fall. Creepier too. Like a Stephen King novel. I sit at my desk and hear crows all day. Little demons perched in the trees lining the quad. It is truly my favorite time of year. | | Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 | | 12:28 pm |
The Weekend
Its been hot in Boston. Too hot. Last night I sat out on my front stairs with pickle jar that we use as a glass, filled with Iced Tea, feeling every bead of sweat drip off my body. Six months from now those steps will be buried under a foot and a half of snow, and I'll be just as miserable. This wouldn't be so bothersome if not for the fact that the summer has been unseasonably mild up until a few weeks ago. If June and July had been hot I would be used to this by now. But in June it rained 3 or 4 days a week, sometimes more. It was the darkest June the city has on record, receiving such little sunlight through the storm clouds. July was not as bad, but it was still more like April for the most part then July. But August... August always sucks. The humidity makes you feel like your pressed up against the Devil's Nut Sack. All sticky, and gross. We had a party Friday night. A going away party for various friends who a picking up and heading out. That's what Boston is in August. The city is runs a college student schedule because of all the schools. August ends, and so do most of the apartment leases, so this is when people leave. Our friend Leor has gone of to Chicago for Grad School at North Western. Another, Matt, is off to Grad School in St. Luis. Zach, our roommate is leaving our over crowded home for a new apartment with his girlfriend. He will only be a few blocks away, but I get the feeling that will turn out to be a bigger distance then it seems. I spent the rest of the weekend in water. Saturday at my roommate's aunt's pool in Newton, and Sunday at Carson Beach. Carson is a interesting place. It is a small strip of sandy shore line in Southy. It is a short walk from the T, and is surrounded by industrial buildings. I've never been to a beach that was still recognizably in a city. The sand is a thin cover for a layer of black clay. Once your in the water you feel like your waling on slippery slime. It is a strange texture to feel any place that is not art class. The shore is covered in small snails and broken shells. I hurt my foot many times walking over them. I have a cut on one that has bothered me since. I'm not sure, but there may be a small bit of shell stuck in it. Work is boring. I have a meeting at 2 where I'll be asked what I've been working on the last week. The answer... not much. I hope I can come up with something better in the next hour. | | Monday, August 3rd, 2009 | | 9:33 am |
150
I want everyone who reads this to think about the number 150. It can be a lot, or it can be very few, depending on what is being counted. In this case, 150 is the number of days that are left in this decade. Not a whole lot. | | Saturday, July 25th, 2009 | | 9:12 am |

AU Admissions
I am part of the Web Redevelopment Team here at Brandeis. We are working to make the admissions web page better to draw in more applicants. As part of this we are looking at other admissions pages. I figured I would check out AU's for old times sake. Damn. I almost applied to grad school. I miss AU. I really do. There is all this new stuff that looks so cool! I got so nostalgic. I'm never gonna go back to AU, except to visit, but I miss being in school. I'm gonna look into some grad level classes here at Brandeis, then who knows? Maybe grad school will be in my future after all. | | Monday, July 13th, 2009 | | 11:21 pm |
My Back Hurts
I over compensate at the gym to make myself feel good. To prove to myself that I can get into shape. My back is killing me. Worth it. | | Sunday, July 12th, 2009 | | 9:44 pm |
Scavenger Hunt
This weekend I volunteered at the second annual Banditos Misteriosos Scavenger Hunt in downtown Boston. We had over 600 participants! The players were divided into teams of 10 or so and had to solve clues to figure out the locations of each check point. At each check point the teams were given instructions for a picture they had to take before moving to the next location. These were things like “Oxymoron,” or “Person with Red Sox Paraphernalia.” I was stationed at the African American Meeting House in Beacon Hill along with my roommate Erik. When scavengers reached our point they had to play Two Truths and a Lie before they could move on. We would read them 3 facts about Boston, one of which was inaccurate. When they guess the one that was wrong they could move on. My favorite lie was “The Celtics played their first season under the name the Clovermen.” That ticked a lot of people. We would give them a few tries, and if they kept getting it wrong I would make the lie real easy, like “Boston starts with the letter C.” Our station got a lot of good fed back, from what I’m told. Banditos is part of the “Urban Playground” movement. The events are lots of fun, like the Boston Pillow Fight, and the Freeform Gift Swap. They are fairly well know in Boston. Chek ‘em out! http://www.misteriosos.org/ | | Saturday, June 27th, 2009 | | 11:15 am |
I'm Never Taking a Bus Again
Fuck buses. I'm a train man all the way from now on. I took the Bolt from South Station to the city. I took 8 hours instead of the 4 it was supposed to. Fuck that. | | Saturday, June 20th, 2009 | | 10:13 am |
A Night at Midway Cafe
Friday Night Ben, Erik and I left the house around 10 to meet up with Amiee and her friends at her place in Jamaica Plain to go to a burlesque show. We arrived at the bar sometime around 11:30 to catch the second half of the show. The first act we saw was a guy in a skeleton costume dancing around to Rob Zombie’s Living Dead Girl. He striped down to reveal a skimpy outfit underneath. This was when I first suspected that I was at a gay bar. The second act was a girl in an Uncle Sam outfit dancing to the Beatles’ I Want You. It ended with a strip tease and me getting shot with a nerf dart that reads “Boner.” The last act I saw was two girls dressed as unicorns having their pretend entrails removed by a tranny via their anuses. This is when the owner of the bar asked the patrons to take a lap around the high school track across the street where they were holding a Relay for Life (an event to raise money for cancer research/awareness). His mother had passed for cancer, he said, and anyone who went would get $2 off their next drink. After following the crowd around the track I gave $5 to one of the teams. The bar tuned in to a regular dance scene after that. They played Rock Lobster and I danced on the stage. We partied until they turned the lights back on. It was a fun night. | | Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 | | 3:21 pm |
Science!
I am posting from my netbook from a lab at the Harvard School of Public Health. Kuss singed us up for an expirement where they inject him with hormones and the see how we interact. Not gonna lie, we are one mysterious explosion away from super powers on this one. | | Saturday, June 6th, 2009 | | 1:14 am |

Cheesers!
4:08 AM - Saturday May 30 Tonight's Wine and Cheese Party was a success. Many came to enjoy the sharp flavors of cheese, and the deep flavors of wine. I spent a portion of the evening styling my friend Molly's hair into a fohawk. I think she would look good with red highlights. Yes, I am still straight. I fear the cheese has invited an unwelcome guest. There is a mouse creating a stir in my room, and I can sleep for fear that it will eat me alive. Perhaps not, but mice are scary! Yes, I am still straight. I could sleep in the living room, which makes little sense, as I know there are mice there too. Or stay up all night, and see if I can scare him out of my room. Both good options. I left my door open and went down stairs for an hour in hopes the little guy would leave on his own. *fingers crossed* Haven't heard him yet. 4:14 AM - Still can sleep... | | Friday, May 8th, 2009 | | 8:04 am |

Admitted Students Day
The good people at Brandeis University have decided to put my skills as a film maker to some use. I recently completed a video for the admissions department about our Admitted Students Day. Its not too exciting if you aren't thinking of going to Brandeis, but I think it came out pretty well. | | Monday, April 27th, 2009 | | 7:39 am |
